Modern blues.
Classic rock.
Our own stories.
Black Hat Company is a Los Angeles blues-rock band blending contemporary blues, electric blues, and classic rock ’n’ roll. Guitar-driven songs, a strong rhythmic foundation, and shared vocals connect our West Coast sound to the music that inspired it.
Our original music pairs storytelling and playful lyrics with a sharp social perspective. Sergio Valentini, Art Aguayo, Sergio “Prof” Maldonado, and Jesse Manzano bring a collaborative approach to writing and recording, drawing on multiple instruments in the studio. On stage, Sergio “Prof” Maldonado and Sergio Valentini handle vocals and guitars, Jesse Manzano plays bass, and Art Aguayo sings and plays drums.
Our debut record, Just a rock&roll band, arrived in 2024 and is streaming on all major platforms. Our forthcoming album, Modern Slavery, continues that story. Live, we perform as a four-piece electric blues-rock band or an acoustic trio throughout Southern California.
